I pride over myself being an avid reader. Once I finished a 1200 page book by Ken Follett in 5 days. There are many books of 200 to 300 pages that I have finished reading in a day. In the year 2007, I read 50 books. Ok, I am not boasting. I know of people who read more than 100 books in a year as well. The point I am trying to make is since the past few years after the advent of the OTT platforms, I have not been as consistent with reading.
I participate every year on the Goodreads reading challenge but my target is very low, like 10-15 books to make it achievable. This year I have taken a target of reading 24 books.
However, I am thrilled that Blogchatter has also initiated a reading challenge because the community had a huge role to play in being a motivating factor for me when it comes to blogging and I know I will be able to achieve my reading goals only if I commit myself here.
Also, I like this idea of writing a blog post about the challenge because now I have announced to the world that I am participating and I will push myself to grab the books that are lying all over my home- yes, I read multiple books at the same time- one on Kindle which I always carry it with me in my purse, one in the loo, one besides my bed. But when I have time to read, I tend to watch Netflix.
But 2021 is going to be different. I have resolved that this year is going to be about ‘Progress’ in everything that I do. And so I am going to make realistic goals and strive to achieve them. Reading more than I did last year is on top of the list. I am not going to focus on how many books others have read or reading and going to focus on myself.
So, if you love to read but are unable to do that and looking for motivation, join us at Blogchatter for the reading challenge.
