Harappa – Curse Of The Blood River – An Intriguing Tale

History is an intriguing subject our teacher used to tell us. I always got bored studying history in school, only because of the methodology used to teach history in school. I was never interested in mythology stories as a child. So my knowledge of Indian mythology and history is very low.

But as I am an avid reader so when I received ‘Harappa- Curse of the Blood River’ for review, I grabbed the opportunity. I have always been fascinated by the ancient civilizations and thus the book seemed to be an ideal read for me. Though it is a fiction, this book gave me a chance to know a bit more about Indian culture, history, and mythology. This book also got my interest as I like to read thrillers. I received the book at the right time as I was going to be travelling for Diwali vacation and I always carry a book. But it was such a page-turner that I finished reading it on the flight only before even I reached my destination.

About the book:

‘Harappa- Curse of the blood river’ is a gripping historical and mythological thriller. The book is an ideal mix of history and mythology and moves at a perfect pace.

The cover page and the blurb are quite captivating and will want you to grab the book and start reading immediately.

About the story:

The book runs a parallel story of the 1700 BCE, Harappa civilization and present-day year 2017. The story is about the main protagonist Vidyut Shastri a young entrepreneur from Delhi.  His grandfather is on the death bed and calls him to Banaras to reveal a secret.

This book takes the reader through two different but interlinked eras. The story moves from one era to another with ease and in a proper flow. The past stories are the base for the present day and it takes the reader through various twists and turns.

The manner in which the story moves across time zones is fascinating and says a lot about the writing prowess of the author.

To keep the story secret intact, I shall not reveal much about the story and will recommend you to just order the book as it’s an intriguing tale.

What I liked about the book:

The author has a simple yet captivating writing style. It’s a well-researched book. Author Vineet Bajpai keeps readers at the edge. The book is a complete page-turner. There are many twists and turns in the book and will keep the reader wanting for more. The book ends on an interesting note and will be continued further in the book ‘Pralay- The Great Deluge’
